If you want to become a yoga instructor in Sydney and you are looking for information you might be a bit confused as I was.
With the research that I have done it looks like it can take just too long to get a Yoga Certification.
Other questions that came up are:

Prices
In regards to prices I also found that if you don’t do your research properly you can end up paying a lot of money for your yoga training course.
These are some of the facts that I found:
- Most courses are for a full year so if you miss the month when they started you will have to wait for an entire year to start your training.
- Prices are not cheap. The lowest price that I found was $2,600 but you can also find other schools that charge more than $6,000 – $7,000 dollars for a yoga instructor course.
- Some schools offer the earn as you learn modality. So you can start teaching and paying by installments so it is not very hard to pay the money to the Yoga School.
Associations
- There are a few associations that take part in this industry.
- Some institutions are registered training organisations but for working purposes it doesn’t really matter as long as you managed to have a policy insurance for fitness purposes.
Yoga Schools in NSW
- In NSW there are quite a few schools in Byron Bay that offer intensive courses. The problems is that you would have to go for a few days to Byron to get certified.
- Some schools offer correspondence courses so you can learn the theory at home. The practice is managed differently depending on the school. Some insitututes allow you to do the practice under supervision of a qualified yoga instructor. Other colleges make you attend the practical seminars that most of them are run on intensive programs that most of the times take place during the weekends. Average is 10 weekends for 8 hours.
You could also consider an international course in another country.
Yoga Modalities
- There are different modalities of yoga training. The most popular one is the hatha yoga. Prinayama Yoga is another type of yoga that is not as popular and sometimes it is integrated in the curriculum of any standard yoga training.
- Bikram or hot yoga is another different kind of yoga. This certification is only given in the Unites States in California. It is also expensive. The price is around $7,000 USD and you have to consider the accommodation expenses to stay in the area.
